    Default Limp Mode at 50mph

On the 2.2 dti vectra I have it is being really sluggish, and as soon as I hit 50mph it goes into limp mode, anyone got any ideas?

I have looked over the boost pipes and can't see any splits

Also as soon as you turn car off then back on it out of limp mode

when my turbo actuator failed on my ford galaxy it gave the same symptoms, basically it would go like stink then cut out, you would have to stop the car to reset itself then start again,

i had to have a new turbo fitted as they said it wasnt a seperate repairable part

You will need to have it plugged when the mil is on, that way you should get the code... also the dti's are not readable with every code reader.

Yes, that black plastic box is the vacuum reservoir. If you disconnect the pipe, you'll hear hissing until the unit has filled up with air.

Some fault codes aren't stored when they disappear, so you won't be able to read such codes unless the fault is ongoing at the time that the fault code reader is connected. The 'boost pressure out of range' error caused by a dirty/broken manifold pressure sensor is - if I remember right - one of these.

I had the same symptoms as you. I cleaned the manifold pressure sensor but it still happened - although less often - so I replaced the sensor and it's been fine since. This - and then the EGR valve - are probably your next steps if all of the air hoses and vacuum pipes are OK.
