Default Improving Throttle response on CDTI

    Hi everyone,

Does anyone know what can be done to improve throttle response on a cdti engine. It normally takes a second after i put the throttle down before i feel the car pulls or revs move but after the throttle is pressed i do feel the fuel is injecting into the engine, its just waiting for the car to move. I seriously notice this after driving two petrol cars as their throttle response is so quick and responsive. One of the cars was a 1.2 corsa lol.

EGR, inlet manifold issues can cause this sluggishness too, a 100% CDTi has very good throttle response indeed.

Did you buy it new? If not, then it means nothing.

They should be repsonsive m8, as that's what Common rail deisels are built for. I had a 1.2 ltre Corsa and it wasn't as repsonsive as a fully working CDTI. Yours must be bad imo, mines is poor now but I suspect jammed turbo vanes are the cause of my cars woes. Hope it's something daft for you.

And to add to the list - blocked fuel filters, split vacuum hoses or sticking turbo vanes.

V-Power diesel helps, but with the cost of fuel these days it's probably an expensive option.

My findings from personal experience are that v-power diesel gives more oomph at lower revs

Try 150 to 200 ml of eco max at a tank fill up of derv. Try this over a couple of tanks worth and see if there is a difference
