Default bad oil leak after garage oil change

as some of you may or may not know i have a kit car (mk indy) so any servicing on my daily driver (1.9cdti 150 vectra) i take it to a local garage.

anyway i had the oil changed saturday, now today i went to the local shop in the vectra and noticed ALOT of oil on the road on the way back and quess where the trail lead me to, yes, my house.

now thers alot of oil on the road and none on the dipstick, looking under the bonnet it looks as if all the oil has come from the bottom of the engine.

so what do you think ? loose sump plug ?

any damage ? no oil lights on on the drive home and no new noises.

    advice please

Don't drive it any further until it's sorted!!

You've been lucky if there's no damage.

Check the sump plug and the oil filter. Can only be coming from one or the other, if you've only had an oil change.

Or take a walk to the garage who done it ..... :

Once sorted, fill it and let it idle on the drive and check for leaks before you drive it

do you think i should be asking the garage for it in writing that they did XXX and didnt tighten XXX just incase i have a big engine failure.

just spent the last 2 hours spreding sand on the local roads around the village.

But ....... was it cracked before it went into the garage and was it holding oil 100 % before the mechanics got their hands on it ?

they are probably just going to claim wear and tear or blame you for driving over something .

do you think it's something the garage has done ? hit it with a hammer maybe .

I reckon they've over tightened the filter when they changed it. The plastic housings don't need to be super tight just nipped up

you will be the luckiest man in lincolnshire if there is no long term damage,be sure to keep the invoice for the oil change, with date, ect.
as JR2 says filter has been overtightened.
