    Default Fitting a dump valve like it or not !!

    everybody seems to be completely against the idea of puting a dump valve on a deisel. wel i have spoke to the derv doc and my vectra cdti is getting booked in eitha for this week or next, having the dump valve fitted and geting it remaped from them. hopefuly it will sound good. video to follow once done

    Not so much against putting a dump valve on a diesel, more against putting a dump valve on anything

    Thought about fitting one on the V6 CDTI. It's quite a large turbo and the spooling time is quite an age. Wondered if it might help. Let me know how you get on.

    sorry mate couldn't resist... other than the noise, dump valves on oilburner are a complete wast of time... they're not even contolled by pressure, they have a switch on the throttle to activate the blow off. imo you may as well just wind the window down & scream "whooooooootshhhhh! out of the window inbetween gear changes for all the good it will do...

    And deisels don't use the throttle valve like petrols do as it is opened all the time and only closes when switching off the engine - hence their prim and proper name according to some - anti shudder plates. Because the plate doesn't close on lifting off of the throttle pedal there is not 'back pressure' in the induction system hence nothing really to activate the dump valve.
