Default V6 CDTi 54plate vs. VXR 56 plate

    Hi all

    As you proberly know I currently own a V6 CDTi Caravan 2004 125.000miles, engine 47.000miles .

I have then been offered to swap for a price of course. But the swap-price is fair.

The VXR caravan is an 255bhp ardenblue with 60.000miles.

the trouble is that the VXR has no extras and the car I have almost has everything that was possible i 2004, apart fra AFL, heated rearseats, alarm, sunroof is has everything else.

In Denmark the tax on the VXR is a little cheaper than the V6 CDTi and insurance is the same.. So only extra costs is fuel and monthly cost to the bank. It is about 280 punds more pr. month.

How reliable is the VXR engine compared to Y30DT with autobox. and what about prices for repplacement parts: brakes, filters, and so on. the wife is no problem either...
    What should I do??

VXR is a chane engine and V6 CDTI is a cambelt engine...

Keep the one you have. Better the devil you know. More fuel less mpg, more money to the bank. I would stay with what you already have.

But then again it is a VXR
    3.2 v6 Signum and loving it 😁

I've had 3 v6 cdti vectras and now a vxr 280. I will never go back to diesel but depends how many miles YOU do. Petrols have come along way and my 2.8 is only 3-4 mpg worse then the diesel v6 was.

Cant realy say about reliability yet cause only had vxr 6 months but never had a fault. Where as with the same miles my diesels both had scv valves and older one also had a turbo lucky was under warranty or would be £££

My v6 used to average 42mpg and my 2.8 under 20 (my 2.8 is auto though)

It sounds like you current car has as good as if not a better spec than the VXR, I know what I'do and I'd keep your current car.

I was in your situation about 10 years ago, different cars but long storey short I regretted it as my old car was so heavily spec'd in comparison for a the badge

Deisels are gaining in the performance department and petrols are gaining in the economy wise too. The only issue is the tax on petro cars typically as they emitt more CO2 than Diesels BUT deisels you pay more for the car and more per litre of fuel. Swings and roundabouts.

Here in Denmark the V6 CDTi is 200 punds more a year than the VXR because it dosen`t have DPF. Insurance the same.. well a little cheaper with the VXR (25pund a year)

Overall it will cost me 280 punds a month, mostly because of the higher price on fuel and the lower mpg. But I guess with a big smile on my face.

I am doing about 22.000 miles a year.

Good to hear about the VXR... I am tempted...

Here in Denmark either the VXR or V6 CDTi is pretty hard to sell to ordinary people.. The VXR is to expensive in insurance and the V6 CDTi is not doing anough mpg like the 1,9 CDTi 120/150bhp....

So they are both " non wanting cars" in Denmark... So if someone is interested is swapping you must do it or you end up getting "married" to the car... But in this case the case is the same for both cars.
The seller is pretty hooked on swapping... Sooo.... I think me will think serious about it.

If I say the swapping price is 10.000,- grand.. That will put you of your chairs

But the VXR is listed to 30.000,- punds, so I get 20.000,- punds for my own..

(Remember we pay for the car 3 times compared to you UK guys.)

    So VXR 10.000,- punds
    My car 6.700,- punds
    swapping price 3.300,- punds
