    Yip I agree with you there, although I hold the opinion that the speed limit should be increased to 80-85mph on motorways, and the MOT should match that safey wise.

    I've gotten out of points for years anyway - if I've ever been pulled over by a traffic cop I've just said to him "You do realise I'm a News of the World journo, don't you?"; they always reply "I do apologise Sir, please proceed with your journey, sorry to have troubled you...."

    Why not allow you 50 points on your licence lower the 10% limit to 2% and your points get wiped after a month that way they can fine you over and over and make billions instead of using the cloak and dagger method they are at the moment!

    I suppose it's worth a go, and drivers can only go on the one course in 3 yrs, so it's not a soft option. I do know a solicitor for a well known firm, who regularly got stopped on his way home. As soon as they realised who he was and where he worked they mostly decided it wasn't worth the hassle, lol.
