    Default What Oil In The Vectra

    Been Told By A Mechanic To Use
    5W/30 Fully Synthetic In My Vectra 2.2 Sri
    And To Clean It Out With
    Forte Top End Treatment or Slick 50

    This Will Get Rid Of My Mayo Problem


    What Oil Do You Other Guys Have In Your Car ??

    Is This Ok

    That's what it came with from the factory.

    Will it cure your Mayo problem? Depends, what's causing it? It may only remove it until the water builds up again.
    Now I need a turbo to keep up!

    well the guy who had it before me did not go very far in it .but a blast to skegness last week got rid of it from the oil filler cap.
    i am thinking the mayo is in the tappets ,as it sounded like a diesal this morning at start up for about 5 mins

    Do you have the elongated oil filler? It is a platic pipe about 4 inches long. If you do take it off and put the filler cap directly on to the rocker cover. I did that with mine and hey presto no more mayo in the top of the pipe or on the cap.
    The longer pipe is only for ease of filling, and acts as a cooler when fitted. This cools the oil vapours and causes it to emulsify thus giving you the mayo effect.

    i'm using genuine vauxhall semi synth in mine, i used to use magnetec years ago but i personally beleive you can baby an engine too much,

    I do both short and occasional long distances. Regardless of the distances I do, my engine still suffers with mayo on the filler cap of my 2.2 Elite.

    Its a 'characteristic' of the engine in that the top end doesn't get hot enough to get rid of the water vapour in the oil.
