Engine light!

Hi,

Engine light came on today while the mrs was out and about then wouldnt let her go over 3000rpm which im guessing this isnt gunna be very good lol when she got back i took it out and it didnt come on again while i was out for 10mins.

Is there anything i should be looking for or isnt there alot i can do about it than take it to a garage?

Engine will normally reset after ten minutes
