    Default Newbie & Keyfob plus

    Hi All
I have just purchased a 03 Vectra 3.2 Elite this week.

I have replace the batt in one of the fobs, but cannot sync it. Shows immobilizer on dash.
I have done a lot of searching but no on ever completes the post!

    1. Can "I" sync it or a main dealer?
    2. Will I need to purchase a new key?

The car has not be serviced for just over a year but has only done 500 miles in that time. it has 66450 on the clock. Should I get a full service done or just an oil change.

    Thanks

I would think that if it shows immobilizer on dash? then it might need to be taken to a VX dealer.
But try this first. In this case I don,t think it will work, but worth the try.
    Put key in ignition.
Turn it on. ( dash lights on, but don,t start it though).
Press either the open or close button on key fob.(buttons on top of dooor should "pop up and down"). If so you might be in luck.

The immobiliser doesn't rely on the battery in the fob. The battery is for the remote central locking only. You could remove the fob battery and the engine should still start as it uses a transponder chip inside the fob that communicates with the ignition barrel.

Also, the resync procedure is only for the central locking.

An immobiliser related fault will need something like Tech2 to diagnose and hopefully marry up the fob to the car again.

Thanks Guys. As soon as I put the key in to the on position the immobilizer lights up.
    The other key is fine.

Does sound like a trip to a VX dealer to get the offending key configured to your car again.
