Sorry if this has been asked before but here it goes.......

I read that people prefer the panel filter with airbox mod over the cone filters due to the heat in the engine bay.......
This was also an issue with my mondeo mk3 I had, so I had a alu box made in place of the airbox that blocked the filter from the engine bay and had a direct air feed from the standard air feed pipe. I have been flicking thru old photos looking for a pic of it but no luck yet lol.

So If I was to get a k&n cone filter and again make a alu barrier/box (box did have open top and only 3 sides) and a direct air feed from front grill, will this work better than the standard airbox with panel filter and mod? Would having a cone filter mess about with the maf?

Found this pic from google, its kinda like this

Plan is to do this (if worth it), exhaust then a remap, I know its a 2.2 and remaps arnt worth it, but for around £150-200 I think it may be worth doing even for the better mpg after doing air intake and exhaust. At least the flatspots would go lol...........
Or do just get the 2.0T lol
