    Default I've given in

I've had my 1.8 06 vectra for over 2 years now, great car but has always lacked the power. I'm now in the position for something different but can't decide what to look at and what to stay clear of. I wouldn't mind a diesel plenty of torque, although stupid dmf thing has scared me off them and no idea what other makes and models are like or a petrol turbo. So far looking at the following as possibilities:

    Audi A4 2.0tdi/2.7tdi or even a 2.0T
    Audi A6 3.0Tdi
Lexus IS either diesel or petrol
    Saab 9-3 2.8T
    Vectra VXR
    Signum 2.8T
Insiginia 2.0cdti (do these suffer dmf?)

As mine is 140bhp and moving to just a 2.0T vectra wouldn't really be lots of difference but I'm unsure any advice or expierence with the following would be handy narrow down what to look at. Also I dont want an evo or something like that that needs to be run on higher fuel and serviced every 4.5k an easily maintain car would be ideal. Many Thanks

Believe me..you WILL notice the difference in power 'if' you were to buy a 2T..esp if you were to get it remapped etc..

nearly all modern cars have DMF's, both petrol and diesel.

i was looking at nearly the same list 6 months ago. Decided I wanted AWD so that removed quite a few!
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

The only problem is going for a 2.0T is that's its practically the same, although the VXR has all the kit and a worthwhile upgrade and for what it is mpg isnt too bad for motorway either compared to some. Yes I know vxr and mpg shouldn't come into the same sentence

There will be no comparison between the two matey, once you go Turbo you wont want to go back IMO. and esp if, as nikroc said you were to get it remapped...

Vectra vxr gets my vote... if only i was on the right side of the insurance hill....

What about the 220PS Insignia 2.0T petrol? Thirstier than the equivalent Audi engine by all accounts but cheaper to buy & service. Not to mention that Regal Autosport claim they can remap the engine to give an eye watering 310bhp!

When my Vectra goes (or dies) I think I'm gonna take the Audi route.

    One nice looking car!

Don't think I'll ever touch another Vauxhall after this stint.

So my vote is with the Audi

all insignias suffer with dmf faults did a 1.8 flywheel the other week and 2, 2.0 cdti ones last month. i'd stick with petrol and vectra/ signum either a 2.0 turbo or 2.8 turbo.
