Default Anybody claimed off council for tar damage ?

My elderly in-laws car is covered in tar on the bonnet / roof and down one side after the council ( through a sub-contractor ) relaid the road outside their house about 6 weeks ago. They hadn't noticed it until I went to give it a little service. Been told it will be about £60 + vat to clean. Has anyone had any success with a claim against the council in such circumstances and how did they word their claim ? Taken some pics of car and got the written estimate.

    Thanks.

    Tar 'damage'???!!!

I suppose when it gets dirty, you'll send them a cleaning bill for that too..

What a joke of a thread, all it needs is a clean involving tar and glue remover.

So what you're really saying is that they didn't notice it until you pointed it out to them?

Should your elderly in-laws still be driving if their eye sight is that bad?

When you say tar damage, what is the damage? Is the paint burnt?

Tar simply sticking to a car is not damage and is easily rectified. Is it any wonder that councils have no money left
