    Default vec c noisy ride

it might just be me but i think the cars noisy over bumps and stuff...

i even took some 18" wheels off due to the fact that i had to use sign language to talk to the missus ( which is a good thing some days lol) as the road noise was horrendous.

now is it just me as my last car ( volvo v70 estate) was like driving a magic carpet compared to this or have i got some bad bushes or similar?

    cheers
    al.

agreed the tyres can make up a considerable amount of the noise experienced ... the over considerations are the sound deadening fitted to the car ... the volvo would have been undoubtbly better at reducing road noise as its designed as a cruiser /motorway muncher... what make are the tyres and what size do you have fitted ??
ans what trim level is your car ?

    pirelli on standard steel rims..

i was maybe thinking of drop links or bushes that are worn?

it sounds pretty crashy over bumps.

Right..the main culprit for the noise you have when going over speed bumps.
1/Front anti roll bar bushes....cheap fix, can diy if your allright with the spanners..look for the How To.

2/Front drop link bushes....again cheapish fix,and a doddle to do.

    3/ Rad mounts...as above.

    4/ Front springs shagged.

    5/ Front shockers knakered.

Start from number 1 above and work your way down the list until it's fixed

right... i can deffo rule out tyre drone as its not that type of noise.

its the noise it makes over bumps and potholes thats annoying me.... its not a metal type scrape but a deep thud but its damn noisy.

cheers ste, il start at the top of that list and see if any of it makes a difference cos id realy like to put them 18" lexy haynes back on

    al.

edit.... its roughly the same at the back of the car too.
