    Default egr needs replacing?

hi all, a few days my emission light came on. nothing unusual it has done it several times in the past but always gone out after a day or two.

however it is now staying on, for information the EML is NOT on.

there also seems to be a very slight hessitancey under 2000rpm, not major but also not like it used to be, no really hard shove (remapped, 195bhp).

now im wondering wot people recommend, giving the engine power restorer a go or just changing the EGR, obviously the power restorer is much cheaper but if the EGR needs doing id rather do it.

car is a early 2007 SRi CDTi 150 remapped to 195bhp.

other point ive noticed on here is that some cars might require a tech 2 session after changing the EGR? anyone experienced this

alos anyone localish (50miles) from salisbury that would

a- be willing to help me do the de-coke
b- be willing to change my EGR

    any views guys and gals?

    What remap have you got..?

Have done a visual check of things, vacuum hoses, swirl bar, EGR electrical connection etc...?

Try having a look at this how to, http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39441 it's a very basic job and really easy to do. Before you shell out for a new EGR though check everything that Dan has said. I just changed my EGR on saturday and did the 3rd injector upgrade yesterday from following the how 2's on here. Really simple and saves you loads of money.

To all intents and purposes if you have it remapped, why not go back to the remap company and ask if they can disable the EGR valve? Then you can buy a blanking plate for it - no more EGR issues.

That's what I was trying to get at, I should have just come out and said it

There is no need to ever spend money on a new EGR, with the prices of EGR deletes nowadays.

with all due respect, the software from regal is £485 for once it is blanked plus the cost of the blanking plate, plus the labour!

a new EGR valve is approx. £100!

i know wot i would rather do!

Its not just Regal that remove EGR/DPF functions.

MAS (to name one) do it for £50 - £100 (people have been quoted different prices) - I know what I would do.

You can clean them out and sometimes that helps.

If you can make it over to Portsmouth I can give you hand removing it and giving it a clean.
