    Default swirl valves second time

    a friend of mine has replaced his swirl valves 12 months ago only to find the rod has come off again this morning, has this happened to anyone else. he has done 50.000 miles since replacing but i thiught the new ones were a modified part and shouldnt go again!!!!

    I saw a taxi in my mates workshop with a updated manifold on it already and when I asked what is it in for,he replied an inlet manifold,I said but it looks like the updated manifold ,he said yeah but its done about 80k since that was put on.

    I think the idea of blanking or welding shut sounds a good idea if your doing big miles

    Have a search, lots of info about this on here

    Its very realistic to do, £4 for a blanking plate, you will get the emissions light, and a map to remove the EGR only is about £50 (MAS).

    Indeed, like on mine now, the BMW engines of old just required a bypass valve to be put in, as they are vacuum driven only, not by ECU.

    Yes, my bad..... but yes, it can be done, not sure anyone on here has done it, but have rather done other things (blank EGR, catch tank) to stop the build up of crud in the manifold, which is cheaper and easier to do.
