Help !! CD70 working but Navi has died ??

Right then here it goes


Been having a problem the past week or so with my cd70 it would randomly turn itself off whilst listening to the radio or with the sat nav running and then back on again ( flat road no bumps or potholes etc and all the wiring is secure in the plug ) last night i noticed the navi has stopped working as the screen was blank so i tried to eject the disc and nothing i then pressed the navi button on the front control panel and still nothing yet everything else still works so i ended up having to strip it to remove the disc tonight, whilst it was in bits i swapped the ribbon cables around so the navi disc unit was being powered by the music side in order to rule out the disc drive being faulty and it works fine so i know thats not faulty. Since the navi has died the unit no longer turns itself on and off like it did.

So basically i`m left with a cd70 that works but the navi side of it is completely dead ???

Is this a known fault or has it happened to you ?

Does anyone know what could be the problem and more importantly where i can get it fixed ?

I`m well outside of the warranty as its fitted in an 06 plate and i dont want to be buying a new unit just for the navigation i would rather put the extra to it and get the VXMMI unit if i had to go down that road and with needing a new manifold that is higher on my list or priorities but i still need it working as it should

thats a weired one mate check make shore no connectors have come loose marktaylor will be watchin he has a cd70navi and cid for sale

checked all connections and the board seems fine too from what i could see but there is a large plate covering one of the boards that i cant check. As for the wiring into the multi plug that is all fine ... its got me well stumped to say the least

well still not having much luck with it so phoned the stealers today and i was quite surprised tbh... then can supply me a brand new unit for 350 sheets i was expecting double that !

just goes to show you when you see cd70`s on the bay in " used " condition going for silly money they are not that expensive new .

Just thought i would post this up in case anyone else has any problems with these units in the future

I have just purchased a Signum 2.2 Direct fitted with a CD70. The navi Disk was missing so I ordered a replacement. Slid it into the unit last night - nothing happened and now it won't eject so it sounds as if it is the same problem.

How did you manage to resolve yours in the end or are you navi-less?

Does anyone else out there know of a solution?

i`m still navi -less and vxl dont repair the unit so looks likes a new unit is going to be on the shopping list , on a plus side i will buy one with aux in
