    Default Ignition Barrel

My partner got in the car this morning to try and start it and the key wouldn't turn. Pulling the key in and out had no effect although it does and always has felt very loose.

Is this a know problem with Vectra's or am I just very unlucky?

Was the steering lock on? If so give the wheel a lift wobble and it will turn with ease.

If it is difficult to turn all the time be very careful, i had an astra which had this problem caused by a build up of dirt in the barrel the key ended up snapping in the ignition whilst sitting on a petrol station forecourt.

My previous vectra B had the same thing happen. I found that gently forcing the key into the ignition while turning it worked.

you were right byebyeitsagsi, it was the steering lock which I have to say I've never had that problem before. Having said that it was first thing in the morning and I did have the means to leave the car and cycle to work and my partner used her car instead.

    Thanks again though.
