My original centre console was badly scratched when I bought it, so the only option was to change it. In October last year I ordered a new centre console for the Linea Rossa in grey as per the orignal. After 10 days a new one turned up, but it was old stock and also badly marked, so I tried to get a new one. It was a discontinued item so unfortunately I could not get one. I searched the internet but nothing decent turned up so I shelved the idea for a while to concentrate on other area's.
So this month I decided it had to be done, after a few pointed out again that the centre console was in a bad way.
Here is the original :-
After a search, I found a brand new Irmscher mat chrome centre console with mat black top. As I could not keep it original, I thought about doing it piano black but I thought this was a too new style feature for an older car. So after seeing the mat silver set up in a later Astra Edition 100, I figured this was the best way to go.
So here's the new console :-
The stripdown complete!
As the rest of the trim would not match the new console, I primed and painted the rest of the trim in mat black. This is only a tempory measure as I will buy new black trim when I get the chance to get to the dealers to order it all.
Here's the finished result! I was doubtfull on how it would look, but I think it has bought whole dash a little more up to date.
Really pleased with it, your opinions as always much appreciated!
