    Default Vroom Vroom BHP test.

Just been watching Vroom Vroom (sorry) and this bird (young lady) has just spent £2000 on here Astra VXR's engine inc remap, miltec zorst and charge cooler. Got it on the rollers, and what has £2000 got her? 1 BHP extra, got to be gutted.

Got to wonder where she got her remap from. I don't believe 50% of the claimed gains that people post as there are too many factors involved in dyno results.

    1. Whether the air temperature and pressure are set by the operator or come from a sensor reading.

    2. The static load of the dyno. This is designed to imitate road resistance.

    3. What gear the power run is conducted in. It should be 4th gear. Lower will give high power and low torque figures and higher will give

    4. Has the car been allowed to "coast down" from the rev limiter. If it hasn't, it'll show an incorrectly high flywheel power figure. The dyno measures transmission losses (wheel vs flywheel power) after the throttle has been released. Any sign of brake lights and you're in the hands of a dodgy tuner.

    5. Are the tyre pressures correct.

    6. Were cooling fans used. A turbo car should be dynod with at least three fans capable of simulating a minimum airflow of 80 mph. One directed at the intercooler and the other two at the bonnet.

Finding a reputable and above all knowledgeable tuner/rolling road centre is the key. Any idiot can stick a car on a rolling road and make a total ar*e of it.

Exactly. So either dodgy tuning, dodgy car or a dodgy rolling road.

No difference just a different name for the same thing. Its called a chargecooler as it cools the charge air from the turbo.

Intercooler is air to air cooling, chargecooler has waterflow to cool the air flow temp.

Was it a Blue one, may know the car, anyhoo does seem a bit dodgy as most VXR`s are spot on with the original power, maybe the wheel figure is now 1bhp above the flywheel original ?

I stand corrected. Sorry for any confusion.
