    Default Help needed - CD30

Hi, Newbie here, both to the forum and to Vauxhalls. Have 06 Signum 1.9CDTI with CD30, which doesnt seem to be working properly. Just wondered if anyone can help. The radio and Cd play ok, but cant change the Bass or Treble. Also the display screen doesn't show radio/Cd info and right steering wheel controls dont seem to work. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

When you say that you can't change the bass and treble,
Is this because you cannot find the "settings" menu, or
    is the radio ignoring you..

Regarding the display of information, I am wondering if you have all the connections in your display and head-unit..

The communications bit are done via the display, so check the wires to the display.

Pins 19 white and 20 green, are mid-speed communication wires to the head-unit pins 10 white and 9 green.
(This sends the information to the display)

Pin 28 green is the low speed communication link to the BCM pin 40 (this receives the control signals from the scroller wheels).

To me, this points to a faulty display, which is not uncommon on the CD30

Other than this, try checking the fuses in the end of the dash panel (uk passenger side)

    Fuse 1 = Head-Unit
    Fuses 7 & 9 = BCM (as fitted)
Fuse 10 = CIM module (steering wheel module)
Fuse 12 = BCM Overload fuse
Fuses 17 and 19 = BCM (as fitted)
    Fuse 26 = Display

and last of all, look at your right scroller control (held onto the right wheel spoke via a single T25 (i think) torx screw..
See if the little connector is still firmly attached and clean..

Again - the prime suspect is the Display itself..

Be aware that you cannot just fit a replacement display... as they need to be divorced and paired as necessary to work..
Simplest repair of this is to get a pre-married display and head-unit from another Vectra-C or Signum... not any other Vauxhall due to wiring differences etc within the display...

Thanks Robsey. The treble and bass thing is the radio ignoring me I think. Also I notice that the buttons on the radio dont light up. The display shows the range etc. but no info on radio settings, I assume it should. Anyway will try the above.

The treble and base thing... check your settings..
    Are you set to "USER"...
if you are set to anything else, then the bass and treble are "pre-set" and cannot be altered. (if this is an option on the CD30.. not had one for several years).

Regarding the illumination.. the only way that this would happen, is

    a) The lighting "link" is broken between the BCM (pin 40) and the display pin 28..
However if you have temperature readings, then the wire is intact.

    b) Has the radio itself been out at any time...? If so, the facia plate is attached "electronicly" by a little plug to the radio itself.. plug damaged ??

    c) has the previous owner done a Clumsy LED conversion - gone wrong maybe ??
It is possible that he may have fried the LED circuit or the PCB... this could also affect the treble / base circuit board.. depending where he fried it...

If it is either of the last two items, then you need a replacement CD30..
    Now then...
The CD30 is the same across the Vauxhall range (wiring wise), although the Astra-H and Zafira has a more angular shape (viewed from above).

If you get a replacement head-unit (radio), then it would need to be totally reset so that it can be reprogrammed to your car..
An absolute ball ache for the programmer to install from "reset", but unless you can guarantee that the head unit is from a Vectra-C, then there is no other option..

If it is from a Vectra-C / Signum, then the head-unit can be simply un-paired by virtue of "disable anti-theft protection", a lot less reprogramming to do to install the head unit.

As said before... by far the easiest repair, is to replace the display and head-unit as a married pair. (no tech 2 required )
