Default Clutch Pedal Vibration - 150 CDTi

    Hi guys,

Had my SRi 150 Vec for 6 months or so now, and recently it seems to have developed a bit of a vibration coming through the clutch pedal when changing gear. This is mostly 1st - 2nd to be honest.

Also, when I dip the clutch pedal, it makes a very loud noise, as if the engine noises are amplified. Lastly, the noises coming from the car are very much different depending on if the clutch is up, or depressed..

After doing a bit of a search about, I am not sure if this is just the way of the VecC, or if it is a tell-tale sign of the DMF giving up the ghost...

    Cheers!

Does the noise sound like a tinkling metallic noise can you describe?

Only way I can honestly think to describe it is 'mechanical' and (even more so) like a tractor! I will go have a good listen when I get a chance and describe it while it is fresh in my head..

Sounds like the dual mass flywheel (DMF).

Sounds like the dreadeed DMF problem.

It does sound like this but hope we can confirm the situation as the DMF is quite distinctive,,

Well, after going out and having a listen, when the clutch is down about 1"-2" the car makes a pulsating, loud almost "err-err-err" kind of sound (look at me being all descriptive). Whereas when the clutch is fully depressed it just sounds a bit 'whirry' and louder than when the clutch is up.

As annoying as this is, how easy is it to get sorted with NetQ if it is indeed the DMF?

Any VX Garage will fix it. Do you have a warranty? It is expensive, i think you looking at £600 but dont quote me.

    Yea, thankfully I have NetQ!

This being my first car worth owning with a manufacturer warranty, do I need to go in and state my case, or will they accept it reasonably hassle free? -if it is the DMF that is.
