    Default Testing EGR solenoid!!

    Guys,

Can the solenoid be checked by just popping into a 12v supply?

    Cheers.

It will move quickly though, as I think the valve operates on 5V but I'm 100%, but I know it's not 12V.

Buy a 240-12V DC pack, it should have the option to turn it down to about 5V. Connect across the pins. That's how I would do it. Tbh If the car is having low down torque problems, the solenoid won't be the problem, as a spring returns the valve closed. If the valve has jammed open or is jamming open then the engine will be down on power and less responsive. If it is closed the car will be more responsive and have it's factory power output, however the emissions light will come on.

Just a solenoid on the CDTI's, I personally think testing it is a waste tbh.
