Default New to Vauxhall Ownership + Few Quick Q's...

...Hi ladies and gents! As per title really, new to Vauxhall membership and just looking to see what's what really.

I bought my Vectra on 19th March...spec is as follows:

    2003 Vectra 1.8 Active Manual
    Black
    1 Owner from new
61k miles (with Vauxhall S.H including Cambelt change at 30k-ish miles by Evans Halshaw...picture of service record below...)
Usual equipment levels, auto wipers, a/c, cruise, etc.

Here's some pictures of her below...:

...I'll post up more pics when I get a chance to take some; the car's been put to work straight away as my steed to and from work at Heathrow so about 80 miles a day.

As said though, I have a few questions...

    1) What is the recommended Cambelt change interval for the 1.8 petrol engine? I was under the impression it was 60k so the previous owner has done me a favour...as per the stamp above, but a workmate says to get it done as they can go at 'anytime'... ...also, how much does it cost to have it done and can anyone local to me do it? I'm in Gants Hill

    2) Is there always a brief pause between putting the accelerator down and the accelration happening? It's Almost like it's sending loads of signals to the ECU etc...

    3) Is anyone willing to add an Aux input to my CD30 for a few beer tokens? lol.

Cheers all...your replies are Much appreciated...!

Hi there. I'm in seven kings not far from you! I've a 1.8 Sri '06 and I enquired at Bristol street (Vauxhall dealers) in gants hill for mine. The techy there insisted there was no need to get it done early and stick to the "60,000 mile" mark. My veccys covered 43,000 so far so he said not to bother.
But I did ask how much and they quoted me £768 or so plus vat. This I thought was kind of steep as on my previous vectra 1.8 (2000 model) I had this done much cheaper at nationwide. Long story short, nationwide quoted me £450 on the nose for cambelt, water pump and fan belt!!! Bargain!!! Try nationwide in seven kings. Guy called dean very nice chap and if you a tesco clubcard you will get some form discount too!!!
As for excelleration it's just one of those vectra things that you have to live with!! Have a look on here and there's an air box mod you can do which may or may not improve it. I done it and saw a little difference but nothing amazing.
Best of luck with your new pride and joy!!!

Moh, alright yaara...yeah man you're not far from me! I'm near the Barkingside Tesco lol.

I'll stick to the 60k limit then, so due about 90k for next belt...though I might get it done at 70-75k so I can get the waterpump done as well na?

I've had work done at Nationwide before, decent service and good price as well .

Cheers for the info Moh, much appreciated yaar...!

Welcome to the forum. Nice looking motor - when it's clean! My Signum was black. Stunning colour but GAWD does it show every speck of dirt. Invest some pennies in good quality wax & resin polish so you can point the hose & (most of the) dirt falls off. It'll save you many hours of cleaning her.

Haynes manual says cambelt due at 54k but recommends it's done at 36k mines done 50k so I'll get it done anyway cheaper than a recon head
