    Default Sump Plug Spinning!!!!

    Hey all,

Having a bad day anyway, then this happens.... Doing an oil change on the 2.2DTi, the sump plug went back in easily, and then carries on spinning ie not tightening up. I did not cross thread it at all, and no issues getting it off either. Stuck my finger in the hole of the sump and it seems like there's a threaded "col-let" or something that's loose. Even when the plug is screwed 95% of the way it you can rock it side to side. So currently got the car stuck in my back garden with no oil in it

What's my best bet to have it fixed? I can't fill it up to drive it anywhere. We do have a fabrication deptment at work, so if i could get the sump off maybe the guy at work could fix it, is removing the sump an easy job? And would Vauxhall stock a new sump gasket (it looks as if I've had bit of a leak anyway).

    HELP SOMEONE!!!

That plumbers tape?? Would that be a decent enough fix as although I do 20,000miles a year, I am looking to get rid this summer...

If its the bolt thats spinning in the thread it should be but not if the thread is loose in the hole.

If your 100% getting rid and you don't mind being really rough, weld it in
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Helicoil perhaps? Not sure if one could be applied to a sump.

    Not true anymore.

You can buy sump thread repair 'kits'

We have used them a few times at the garage I work at when they have been damaged before.

You tap the next size up (Ie M16 to a M17) and fit the slightly larger sump plug.

Anyone know what size it is?
