5/40 not 10/40 by accident!

Hey guys.

Just been out to Halfords to get oil for the oil change. Picked up Castrol Edge 5w/40 turbo diesel oil instead of 10w/40 by accident. Went back and they don't have much in the way of 1ow/40 in because they're apparently waiting on a delivery. Will I get away with 5w/40? I've run 10w/40 before because the car is a pretty high miler - was recommended by my dads mechanic.

you will not do any harm at all with 5/40 oil fella, i am supposed to put that in my car but i can also put in 10/40,

Is four litres enough?

5W40 = £39.99
10W40 = N/A
They don't list a Castrol Edge in 10W40 any more
From memory we also stopped stocking it last year (replaced with Magnatec 10W40)

At that price, I would have bought from a supermarket or from dealership (8 litres for £40)

I picked up two 4 litre ones. 5.5 in mine. Same oil goes into my dads 4x4 too but that takes 7.5 litres. He's gonna pick another one up for when he does his. Just wanted to make sure I wouldn't do any harm. Cheers guys.
