    Default Knocking coming from rear

I have a 2006 vectra sri and I am getting a knocking thats coming from rear. Took it into garage and he checked all the bushes including arb and said there was some play but not enough to make the knocking noise. He could here the knocking noise when he test drove it and said if it was one of the bushes he tested it should be ready to fall off. Any ideas

I'll go for a rear shock absorber
Wearing soft gloves (so as not to damage the paint) lift each side, listen for a squeek noise

i had this problem last week and checked all the bushes with the car in the air could not find any play with the weight of the wheels then tried it with a bar and the car on ramps turned out to be the banana shaped bar bushes that come from the center to the top of the hubs replaced them both now spot on ,the rear was a bit twitchy over bumps as well and it has sorted that out

Chech your rear upper control arms. To do this, with the car on the ground and not jacked up. Take both hands and place inside wheel arch and hold on to the top of the tyre.

Try pulling and pushing the wheel towards you and away from you. There shouldnt be any movement.

If there is, you should hear a clonking noise and this will be the problem .

Upper control arms are quite dear and very awkward to replace.
