Vauxhall recommend that all Vectra-C engines use 5w/30 fully synth long life oil.

If benny is doing your chain, the oil change is included mate. I'm sure he said the other day that he now uses 10/40, cant remember the reason, but I think he mentioned the stem seals. I've been using 10/40 for the last few years as it sorted a noisey lifter on start up.

I use 5w40. IMO it offers the best compromise all year round, with easier flow in winter and better viscosity when it warms up in the summer - especially if occassionally you like to drive the car hard.

I would only use 10W on a higher mileage engine. That said it will be fine in summer but in cold winters it will struggle to circulate as quickly as a 5w, therefore given less protection on startup.

If it's only approaching 60K I would stick to a 5W - it will circulate much quicker at start up than a 10W.
