As above?
As above?
you will know man because there will be blue reak coming out of the exhaust, oil will be in the combustion, dont be worrien about the little puff when cold
also youd be topping up the oil a bit id say.
Thread resurrection.......
This is exactly me...and have been trying to search for clues....tested glow plug resistance this am and all good. Car has blanked EGR, Mapped etc and has covered 150k. (Saab 9-5 1.9 Tid '06)
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
M
a compression test will help you determine if the valve seals are gone i suggest you have that done...
ooo...I have a home compression kit that I have used on my other petrol car.........is it the same principal or is it a different process?
Many thanks,
M
it is the same principal... just check that you have a connector for the diesel engine if you do than you know what to do.
I'd have thought a petrol compression tester won't be suitable for a diesel engine, MUCH higher pressures involved.
my theory on the puff of blue smoke is the crank breather system collecting a bit of oil when the engine isn't running, then burning it off when you start it.
hasn't been confirmed or denied, just my theory.
because........SIGNUM!
I have checked a z19 dth 150 for compression with a petrol compression tester kit i bought via ebay cost around £13 this had adaptors and a 300lb gauge . While the gauge was in range for the z19dth ( think it was reading about 280-290lb i'll check tomorrow) the adaptors were no use for the z19dth ( wronge thread) so i adapted a old glow plug. I'll post a photo tomorrow.
