hi... iv recently fitted a gid into the veccy and it works perfect in every way.

the thing that concerns me is its saying in getting over 50mpg around town?

now if its doing that then im a happy man but im very skeptical lolol.

bare in mind i do drive like its my own funeral only revving it to under 2000rpm as i potter around town and then its no more than 7o on the motorway with the cc on

anyone have any thoughts on this?

Seems high. Mine is a 2003 DTi SRi (2.2) and shows 41.5mpg on the GID. Having done a manual calculation, this seems about right. I do about 60% town driving and 40% motorway. However, I reset the GID when I bought the car, 8000 miles ago, when I did about 90% town driving. It's gradually climbed since (was on 36mpg). Mind, I rev mine up to 2500-3000 and above at times, does them good to clear them out every so often.

I do intend to reset it again before my next long journey.

Best bet is to do a manual calculation and see what you get

i use an iphone app called car minder and you put in all the details and that comes up with 41mpg so god knows.

yeah, you can't rely on trip computers.
the mpg figures they give are not accurate, and often way off.
old method is still the best

I may be wrong (& usually am) but did your GID come from a petrol vectra? The reason I say this is because I fitted a GID in my 2.2 dti & before I got the wiper stalk tech2'd it was showing a range of 1040 miles after fill ups. I suspect mine came from a petrol car cos it settled down & gave me a more realistic reading after a few weeks. Now it says I get high 30's to mid 40's round town depending on traffic & how I drive. Its almost as if its 'learned' itself to the car.

i think mine like yours is learning the car as it started off at about 56mpg and its dropped to 51 ish

il give it a while to see if it drops any more

My 04 reg 2 litre dti doesnt have the trip computer, but the last 3 times i filled it up it worked out at 49.7685 miles to the gallon. When we had the really cold spell it returned 46.4536 miles to the gallon, but now things are a little warmer its even better.

This is all short trips around town, 3 times a week & each trip is less than 20 miles round trip.

Should mention that i fill up at the same pump & the tank is filled ALL the way to the brim.
