Default Traction control light on (is it the CIM)

Still have this on going problem but not convinced it's the CIM (yet)

When I start the car there are no warning lights, if I drive in a straight line, no warning lights, however as soon as I turn the wheel left or right the traction control light comes on and stays on and occasionally the steering wheel warning light will flash on and off.
Similar applies if I just turn on the ignition and don't start the car, no warning lights until I turn the steering wheel left or right slightly. Is this CIM related or could it be something else?
Are the tech 2 cleared CIM units on EBay worth purchasing? As £46 seems a better bet than £250+ especially if that's not the problem.

Check the ABS sensors on the wheels.

Next time the TC warning light comes on, put an indicator (fully) on, let it flash about ten times, then cancel it
If the indicator light stays on, then it is CIM failure

That's the process for checking a failed ABS module, where the ABS light comes on, or hub where both lights come on; doesn't apply in this case

90% sure it will be the steering angle sensor , which is part of the CIM

The simple reason I said check the ABS sensors is because I had this problem on my old 03 plate saloon. Traction control light coming on regularly usually when going round a bend. I tried all sorts of things and it turned out to be a bad connection on the ABS sensor on the wheel as the traction control system uses this to detect how the wheel is moving.

Tried the above, both indicators and they can be cancelled normally without any lights staying on apart from traction control light.

Had a code reader on it today, looks like its a faulty CIM according to the fault thrown up
Are the second hand "cleared" ones on Ebay worth trying out?
