    Default P0301 code only and V6 3.0cdti

Have got a 04 plate, Y30 engine, done 120K, this code (P0301, cylinder 1 misfire) has been present on and off for about 20k, 18 months, including before and after service (inc fuel filter change)
More recently the car goes into limp mode after hard acceration only, at 3000rpm (more gentle accel ok). No new codes other than P0301.

Any ideas?? I have had various suggestions from garages, but i dont want to waste tons of cash chasing different theories.

    Any suggestions appreciated.

Cheers, i was thinking of that being first option of taking them out and getting them correctly cleaned.

But no judders or loss of power noted, runs as smooth as it also has done, or does that not matter?

most cost effective way would be to try moving the cyl 1 injector to cyl 3 (in the same bank). If the code follows it to cyl 3 then you'll know its the injector at fault.

pain in the rear getting to the rear bank in the y30 though.

My old 3.0 never gave a fault code when the injectors were fuc*ed. Maybe you have an electrical fault, giving false data to ECU, which in turn delivers too much/not enough fuel to cylinder number 1. My car was running like poo, which yours isn't.

I am, cant remember whether i had deleted it but read it 18 months ago and again recently, also a independant garage came up with the same.
So it could be electrical? but why does it occasionally limp (but will do over 4000rpm with little power) on hard accel until engine switched off and reset or is the EGR valve sticking?
This was a bit stickey at about 70k then I read this forum that suggested to drive like i stole it on a reg basis, it then was fine.

If the EMS receives no response, or a response outside tolerance, from a sensor it records it as a fault
Depending on the sensor and threshold the EMS then puts the engine into "safe mode"

When you switch the engine off, and leave it for about 2 hours, then EMS "resets"
On restarting the engine assumes there are no faults, but the previous faults remain recorded

It is not good to go above 3000rpm in "safe mode"

After about 20 starts and no repeat faults the previous fault is then deleted
