Thumbs up shows how good this site is

while searching for parts for my sig ( y30dt ) i came across a thread on website called boards.ie
not sure what its about but below is what was copied from a thread on changing a 1.9cdti water pump

General concensus on the vectra c owners club is 40k miles or every 4 years without exception on every model. They say anything over that is a gamble. I trust what they say as theres not much they don't know about this model.....must book mine in then

so we all get a group hug and a big pat on the back ..... well done peoples

Don't waste your money mate as the water pump on the Y30DT is driven by the aux belt, not cam belt

Agreed, when changing the cambelt on the Y30DT does not require a waterpump
Equally, you can quite happily leave the service interval to 100K miles

However, the auxiliary belt is 80K miles
Make sure this is carried out, plus ask for the waterpump main bearing to be inspected / checked

Finally, on the cambelt change ask what they will be doing
If it is a dealership and they say "just cambelt" then ask them to check TIS and correct
If they don't mention valve clearances, go elsewhere
If it is a garage then they may not be aware, so advise them the valve clearances MUST also be done

will be getting both aux belt and timing belt done in next 3 weeks as on 91000 now
believe me wont be going anywhere near a dealership for it
ill get the water pump checked but will only change it if bearings are worn

These days no one will even bother removing the rocker covers, let alone check the clearances of each valve.
It's too expensive and it's not really a MUST. My mate spoke to a Y30DT specialist in Germany and he said and I quote: "Your friend must be crazy for even considering checking and adjusting the valve clearances! Don't repair if it's good." You can't beat the german logic...

Almost the same mileage I had mine done at
With the ECO Flex servicing it missed the 80K miles for the auxiliary belt, so both were done at the same time (makes more sense to me)

Discussed before, but that is what the job on TIS quotes for
VX paid for it on my cambelt change (quoted at 6 hours)
Dealership thought "That was easy", almost me giving me the car back after just two hours, until I pointed to the worksheet, then realised the worksheet had "Check valve clearances" on it, which took the rest of the day

Schedule G still quotes this on Part 11 for the Y30DT engine
