    Default Twin Radiator Fans

Motor has developed a fault in the cooling system basically the twin fans are coming on at full speed there have been no warning lights come up until Sat when engine light came on
i had it in the garage to fix on Thurs and they changed one of the sensors and it stopped till i got home and started again they said they could not get it plugged in till weds to find out the real fault ...they had changed the sensor on the belief that the problem was with that and the fault codes i gave them pointed to that (bull ++++) i know
anyhow today the fan has been going off and on if its on when i start the engine it stays on and same if it off ...what i have noticed is when the fan is on the temp gauge on the dash does not register if the fan is off it sits normal ...tonight i went to the shops fan is off and i have noticed engine light has also gone off ...i dont know what to do now ..i know there is a problem somewhere but im not going to pay the guys a fortune by replacing all the sensors and probably Fan Module as i know these come in at £120
anyone had anything like this or knows what is wrong below is the codes i got off the dash
P0691 Fan 1 Ctrl Circ Low
P0115 Eng Coolant Temp Sens Circ Interm Hi Volts
P0118 Eng Coolant Temp Sig Out-Of-Range Hi

My fans on my last vectra never cut in at all,i had 3 stored codes,(i'm trying to see if i still have them on my computer,as i take photos of the screen shot for reference),i tried a new temp sensor,a replacement control unit that bolts to the fan's,there was power there at the fans, they just didn't want to kick in,so i put the earth wire on a earth cable to the body and put a switch on the cable so i could turn them on manually,so it could be an earth problem,i just couldn't find it

Almost certain to be the fan module.
Unfortunately each engine has a different module part number even though they all look the same.
Apart from an Ebay module I would try a module from another similar engined Vectra 'C' if I could get it cheaply enough. Connections are the same, so I would think that the differences are the temps that the fans are initiated. That can't be that far apart to the point of doing any damage.

PS when changing the module there is a torx 20 underneath that you can't see, then just lift up and disconnect the three plugs/sockets.

I tried a fan module and even the fans that go with it on my car from another cdti, and didn't make any difference to my fans

Had similar issues with my old preface , I spent hours investigating and replaced looms , modules , fans . In the end I sprayed WD40 on the contacts of the engine ECU plug , the faults never returned after that . Worth a go and only takes 5 minutes.

I think that is worth a whirl as i am convinced its a bad connection somewhere along the line as i cant see these components being faulty one moment then ok the next ...strange thing is all this started after i had left the car out of the garage as it was so wet over night
