    Default Adding Aux

Can an Iphone be added to a standard head unit, through a lead?

Also what is the power rating of the standard head units? I am not to sure what unit i have lol. It is not the same as the CDR2005. It is the standard one in the GSI with a tape deck and 4 disc changer. Anyone know the model?

I have the one with the tape deck and 4cd changer. It is a CCR2006.
I also belive someone has done a bit of a "how to" regarding which are the correct terminals to conect to for adding an aux" socket. But I can not remember who it was.

I have a CCR2006 in mine - I just use an adapter in the tape deck when I want to plug in my iPhone, and put the phone in the little pocket under the heater controls, with the wire running down the passenger side.

    You have five realistic options:

1 Use a cassette adapter. Cheap (£5), good enough quality and removable. But does mean you can't use the tape deck without taking it out, and the wire might get in your way.

2 Use an FM modulator. Either inline with the aerial lead or a transmitting type. Not as cheap as the tape adapter, but does mean you can use the tape deck without ejecting the adapter, and gives you more flexibility in where you put the phone (seen some nice installs in the cupholder or armrest)

3 Wire a plug onto the auxiliary input used by the optional Trafficmaster or mobile phone interface. Downside is that it's only mono, and bandlimited (as it's designed to produce clear speech, not music).

4 Solder an input directly onto the circuit board of the amplifier, with a switch maybe. Most risky, but if you've got the electronics knowledge is the most elegant solution.

5 Buy a new head unit.

You can take the front of the 2006 hu off and run the tape wire inside and out the back, this way you have no wires on show.
