Just about to get a set of four and cheapest I've found is £403.58 + £9.96 delivery. Fitting to add,.. is this a good price?

What size? have you tried tyreshopper or blackcircles or mytyres?

standard SRI 215/50/17 W - not wanting to go with 225/45 either

I usually look at Blackcircle first - will look at tyre shopper now

Are these any good? Vredestein Ultrac Cento.. my local fitter has recommended them (only I don't like it when things get recommended from suppliers as they obviously are on a good deal with them)

Why not? They're quite a bit cheaper. Had them on my car quite a while now and if you're worried about causing a hard ride then I've not really noticed any difference since changing from 215/50/17 to 225/45/17.

i like the look of the 215,.. not keen on the tyre looking slightly wider than the wheel

I would ring around, I found that after adding fitting. Which I got for free when buying from a local garage, price for uniroyals came to within a £1 or £2 of the internet price.

it's not gonna be £30 a tyre tho

also not wanting to go with 225/45 is that there is nearly a 10mm diameter drop - giving a 2% speedo inaccuracy
