Default Getting inside a Dual Climate Control Panel

    Hi guys!
I need some advice on how to take the Dual Climate Control Panel apart please!
I know how to remove the actual unit from the dash but I need to get inside the actual unit as the main temperature control push button is not working too well, making it difficult to select the different options (air distribution, Eco mode etc). I want to get inside it to see if I can fix it.
Anybody know how these come apart?

Its actually quite easy. I stripped mine as the old one stopped working and when the new one turned up the outer was damaged so i had to swap them over. IIRC they are just clipped together from the rear. The knobs etc stay where they are and it all comes out the back.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Sounds easy - thanks. I know complete new units need to be Tech 2'd in, so if I can't repair mine could I just swap the front over (keeping the other bits, PCB etc from mine) from the new one without Tech2?

No, when it comes apart ALL of the electronics come out of the housing. I had to have mine tech 2'd into the car - but only because the new one didn't have the air quality option enabled. Apart from that one missing option it worked fine. However, the one I replaced on my signum didn't work at all until tech2 got involved. You maybe lucky and it might work.

Thanks! I'm hoping that If I just swap the fronts over and I'll be keeping all the electronics from my exisiting unit, it will still think it's the original unit fitted so no Tech 2 required!

But now you've got me thinking.
I don't have the air quality option in mine at the moment (or residual heating). I know there are various part numbers available for the Dual Climate panels so if I do buy another control panel, can I buy a different one (with these options) and have it activated with options such as air quailty and residual heating using Tech 2, or do I have to stick with the current part number only (13138916)?

The residual cooling/heating works by pressing the auto button with the ignition on in the first position, is that what your doing?

Mine in my GSi were very similar numbers but it did have some options missing. I guess they could simply be activated with tech2 for yours. But in 5 tears of signum/vectra ownership I NEVER used the residual function other than to test it worked!

Sorry I didn't mean residual heating - I know that's standard on all Dual Climate control versions and it does work on mine! It's the automatic air quality mine doesn't have and I think it's called the auxillary heating?? but I'm not sure. So, just to check you did put a (slightly) different part number into your GSI and it still worked?

Yes it was very slightly different but i did check with vx that it would work as there are lots of different types of the same unit although i have no idea how they differ as they all look the same!

Sorry, I didn't know you meant the aux heating. not sure how that system works.
