Default Detail in Pontefract, w yorks?

    Hi all,

Something I've been wanting to do myself but don't want to butcher my paintwork. I've got a polisher in the shed but it's not like the ones I've seen on here, it has 2 handles and looks bigger.

Just wondering how much I should be looking at paying for a machine polish?

If someone was local who had a polisher and wanted to show me what to do that would be better then I'd buy one and do it myself in future.

Car is black and has the usual swirl marks. Also, becuase it's had 19" wheels on from new then the paintwork at cill level has copped for it and could do with sorting. I fitted some flaps to stop any more damage

I was quoted £350 for an enhancement detail by a pro from detailing world.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

wow, that's quite a bit of coin although I suppose it is labour intensive

I may look into the other option of buying a polisher and having a crack at it lol

A very good friend of mine is an award winning detailer and he charges £300 - £350 per vehicle. So I have to agree with Big Sig.

Quite costly, but worth every penny

I'm seriously thinking about getting myself a DAS 6 after reading other posts.

I have AutoGlym SRP, Extra Gloss Protection, Ultra Deep Shine, HD Wax.

Would I need clay too or if I'm using a machine polisher is the SRP going to give me the same level of finish?

If you are going to machine polish a car then claying is an absolute must to obtain the best finish and not to damage the paint (as if heavily soiled with tar/sap etc. the paint can be marred by the machine).

SRP (although works very well by hand and offers a decent finish) will not be a patch on what you can achieve by machine a decent polish, SRP is filler based so isn't actually removing anything, where as the machine with a decent polish will.

A car that has been clayed, machine polished with Megs #83 (for example, there are lots of decent polishes out there) and then the HD Wax applied will look very, very good indeed - far better than SRP alone.

cheers for the tips, I'll have another look at it and decide if I should get the machine or just get it done professionally,

I could practice on the wife's car
