    Default Spitting Carbon

I used to have a lovely white walled garage before Stage III

Now I have two massive black carbon splats on the back wall directly behind each exhaust. Way more noticeable on the offside exhaust exit.

I also noticed yesterday two black carbon 'spatter' marks on my driveway where the car was parked yesterday afternoon (following a spirited drive across country, god it sounded good)...

Best way to describe it is like I'd sprinkled a bit of black powder dye on the ground

Anyways, is this normal to be spitting black carbon everywhere?

Remember I dont have a pre-cat or a main cat anymore. So whatever is in that exhaust is getting fired straight out.. lol

Its just carbon from incomplete combustion surley. Remember back in school, if you shut the air vent to your bunsen burner you got shed loads of black carbony smoke, same thing. Guess it points to a slightly richer a/f than normal, or perhaps the lack of cat that as a secondary action to its intended purpose would catch the carbon and burn it off like a particulate filter does.

With all the modifications youve done, i'm guessing you might have a wideband lamda installed and an a/f guage sat in the dash. Whats the mixture like?

When I bought my LC it was over fueling and doing exactly the same.

Black carbon thrown at the back wall of the garage.

Had the same problem with my original remap from Maptun, over-fuelling big time and black carbon everywhere. Since they've re-done the map for me, it's stopped.

Is it possible they have mapped it a bit rich to be on the safe side? To help prevent any detonation?

Spoons, is it really excessive? And like black powder coat? My gt4 had this when the turbo failed (second one). Double check play in your turbo.

I'll get some pictures next time I need to move the car.

I guess its normal then as a side effect of high performance tuning.

Courtenay Sport have already dyno'd the car and its running as it should for 330 BHP on fuel mixtures. I'm not going to start questioning them unless I know for sure its a problem.

The car is running very fast at the moment, and its popping and crackling inbetween high rev gear changes... like a race car lol. It so easily revs to 6,500-7,000 rpm now and seems to love it up there ... not like before when the engine sounded like hard work after 6,000 rpm and wasnt pleasant.

I'm just sensitive to changes at the moment thats all.

But thanks for putting my mind at rest. I'll go get some black paint and repaint the bottom half of the back wall garage to match

Could be yes, I know they are very sensitive to running lean mixtures and they would rather be safe than sorry.
