Iirc mhvcb and plasma have the code doesn't need to match
I was going to do mine as i have a CDTI fusbox that has front fogs but never got round to it, I was told by a technician that you could easily change over fuseboxes and car would start ok the fusebox doesn't have a code as such its coded using chassis number ( afaik that is )

I've heard that the new one will have to be tech2 cleared and then tech2'd back into the car (but that's only what I've been told, so not really much help).
i can get 1 tech 2 out from vauxhall breakers on ebay just not sure on putting it into the car would it be a case of putting the chassis number into it.?
bigmac so i can buy any fuse box dont have to match my numbers then as im being told they do lol also do you know where the ident codes are on the uec.
If your not fitting fog lights then I would maybe go for same car as yours and age, but if you want to enable fog lights you will need a UEC from a SRI with foglights , As said Mark has done this with help from Dean you don't need same ident code.
Plenty of members have changed CIM's, BCM, DDM, with different ident codes so it will be fine, I was told these are only coded using chassis number and you could get a a used fusebox and just change it over and car would start and run fine but you may get a code stored saying chassis numbers don't match

all modules will need to be tech2 cleared out then in before there fitted
into any car, although modules do have functions in them that your modules
dont and vice versa so if you fit a module that has a function that the one
your swapping it for hasnt then your snookered so your best keeping the
modules the same but there is modules that are upgraded replacement to
your existing one but you wud need to compare that on epc.
oh if fitting foglamps etc then you dont need to change the uec as they
can be wired into the exisitng uec.
cheers
Andy can you explain a bit more? Im in the process of doing mine and although the wires are there and going into the fuse box, ive added the loom and the switch but on trying to activate them im sure it said they were "not present" on tech2. My next course of action was going to be changing the UEC for one out of an Elite.
My old DTI had wiring there for Fogs but my UEC didn't support Foglights, in tech2 it was greyed out me and the tech guy even tried resetting it but it wouldn't activate.
I know your the wiring Guru Andy but afaik the UEC has to support Front fogs and some UEC's don't so this is why you need to change them.
I know Mark had wires in his and he couldn't activate them and he changed the UEC to one that did and he could activate them.
So yes you could add the loom for front fogs and have that going into lower UEC loom but the Top fuse box just unscrews and lifts off this is the part that needs to support the fogs
