    Default Signum 3.0 CDTi Help

    Ok here we go.
I have my oil and filter and going to attempt to change it all tomorrow.
    A few questions first.

    1. Due to having no access to a ramp can the under tray be fully removed from the car to give access?

    2. I have heard several members saying you do not need the special oil filter tool. Is this the case and will I be able to remove it with a chain strap wrench, the type were you attach a ratchet etc.If not what will I need .

Any help would be appreciated so I donít get half way through and find I canít complete the oil change

My oil canister has a nut type fitting on top.
Think its a 22mm socket needed.
Yes the under tray does come completely off but it hinges at the front to remove.
You may need a bit of road clearence to remove it, hence why you really need ramps.

Cheers Graham. As long as it can be removed I will get in lol.
I think the 3.0 is a different set up filter wise to the 2.2 but dont quote me on that .

    Not on the Y30DT
A strap wrench is suitable but releasing the oil filter bolt makes the job easier
Be aware it is 7.25 litres of oil

Cheers Marcus I have 10 lovely ltrs of oil
As long as the under shield is out of the way I will have a bash tomorrow morning

Its not a cheap car to service but worth every penny for the V6 qualities .Just drove 350+miles last week to Kielder and the Scottish borders and it wasnt even an effort ,,,More of a joy

    Worth every penny

Hence why most people skive off to National Tyres and get them to do the oil and filter change
Just make sure you confirm and specify the oil they will be using
You can then watch them while they do it AND they replace the oil filter (and don't just simply clean, shake, and refit)
At £35 you can't beat it (and that is using GM-LL specification oil too)

Servicing at dealerships is the same price as any other Vectra, plus on the 3.0 V6 CDTI seems to cheaper than independents (and noone seems to know why)
However, repairs are the expensive bit...
Think of a number between 1 and 19, then add two zeros

Dont mind getting my hands dirty to be honest.
Vauxhall wanted £280 for oil, air, fuel, pollen filter and oil change.

I got the parts for around £100

All done now apart from the oil change tomorrow. I would say thats a big saving .

Even with the under tray removed I find it hard to reach the oil drain plug. If I can't reach it with my hand how am I going to use a spanner?

And...with the limited space you'll have it will be impossible to remove the oil filter cover with the chain tool (which is useless on the 3.0 anyway as I found out). For that you'll need the 25 quid tool from ebay.

They're having a laugh as the normal price is £180 (excluding pollen filter)
Sounds like they did a OE service instead of a Masterfit service

as stated by celes above and me in about 6 other posts regarding this , you WILL NOT be able to undo the filter housing with a strap wrench

i tried 3 different strap wrenches on mine and failed with all 3 and this was over a pit with loads of room

    rant over
i wish people would actually read alll the former posts on this and take note
seem to repost this every other day lately
