    Default HIDs (again)

Just toying with the idea of HIDs. I've read that these can be a nightmare on the Vec C due to the bulb failure alarm and the pulse through the headlamp power causing flickering when HIDs are fitted.

Do you think I'd be ok with this kit: http://www.hids4u.co.uk/product_details.asp?id=45

It states that the loom has relays and resistors fitted to overcome this problem.

Speak to Green Growler - he's the one who's sussed this out for the Vec C. Ask him nicely and he may even do you the loom required - probably for a fee.

A member on here has tried hids4u latest looms, and they didn't work for him, he still suffered shut downs.
He is using a HID kit supplied by hids4u.
The same member used my looms, made by me, same way, same materials, and though they worked for a while he eventually suffered shut downs again.
I am also using a hids4u kit, but I have my own looms, made as per the how2 I have posted on this site, they worked without issue for a good 8 months in my hatch, they have been swapped over, and plugged straight into my estate and I still don't have any issues.
I don't know why I have them working perfectly on my own car, yet other members who have tried the same kit (supplied by the same company) and have used the same looms (made by me) have still suffered issues.
It seems rather hit and miss, and I cant solve things for everyone without working on their cars which is not possible when we are spread around the country.
Which is why, I have not said anything much more about HID's, I was going to start making looms for people, but the first couple of sets did not run perfectly, so I haven't taken this any further.

Oops, sorry m8! I hadn't realised you'd still had some issues. Thought I was 'volunteering' you in good faith. I'll go and stand in the corner now.

Lol, dont worry m8, like I said, I haven't got any issues, but others have had, which is just why it hasn't gone any further.
Which I think is pretty much what my last comment in the how2 section says.
It seems rather odd and very hit and miss why it works on some cars and not others ???
Which is a bit of a bummer.
    Least mine work. lol

Thanks for the comments Duncan and GG. It looks like I'll just have to try them and see. Birthday next month so this was something I would have been after.

Could it be something to do with the age of the car? Older models having less "anti HID" goodies installed by VX?

Not so, Paul Leeds Vectra had them fitted in his Vec 2.2 DTi no problems and put the kit in the Meriva

Lol, Paul ended up running looms made for him by me.
Last I heard, he still had an issue with some relays clicking after the car was all turned off and locked up and he walked away. As far as I know, we never solved this.
I didn't realise he had fitted them on the Mervia though.
If he goes back to a facelift Vec or a Sigbum it will interesting to see what happens then !!!
