Default Inlet manifold change - now oil spots and streaks across bonnet wing and bumper?

Didnt see my car for over a week.

Had the cambelt, inlet manifold and all other associated bits done.

When I got the car back after driving off having had it parked over night, I noticed an oil spot on the roadway.

My car has not suffered oil leaks before and I put this down to the Peugeot 407 petrol lump of a car I had been loaned.

However, driven down to Paris and back in the last week. I see this all over my car.. No obvious signs of problem in the engine bay though.

Any ideas? Not knowingly driven behind any vehicle losing oil in front of me. And, it has become worse on a daily basis in different driving times/days/conditions

To be honest I'd still be putting that down to something you followed...

If it is your oil how it get onto the out side of the bonnet/wing like that? I agree with Mr Hyde something you have followed.

Difficult to see how it is from your engine. Is your engine bay clean, if you had a leak your bay would be covered in oil. You would also be able to smell it as you were driving and definately sitting idling at a junction or traffic lights. Check dipstick has been properly inserted onto its holder as this can lose some oil if not properly seated. HTH.

It took me a wee while to work out how you got those marks on the offside, then saw the above
Yes, you've been following someone dropping oil, then overtaken it
You should find similar marks down the offiside (like bullet spatter), then at the rear bumper in the opposite direction, with none on the nearside

Glad you have reassured me. Not a numpty with cars usually, but having spent so much on getting a repair on the car done, I wanted to hope all was well with my car...

There are no splashes along the car, the bullet effect does run down both sides of the bumper, nearside and offside.

...Give it a fresh wash tomorrow.

Few weeks on since this thread, has not returned since a wash.

Following behind a dirty French car between Paris and Calais or lorry was the culprit. Sacre Bleu!
