We've just loggged on after arriving home, and I have just had a giggle at Ian C's last post this morning before he left for todays' meet, bemoaning the deadful British weather and worrying that the rain would keep everyone away today. Sure enough, at half past ten this morning, Drinky and I were looking out of the living room window, watching a pretty fierce thunder storm, and not looking forward to getting drenched.
Well, a little over half an hour later, Tony (Caterman) pulled up outside the house, bringing with him glorious sunshine which followed us to our destination including the scenic detour caused by driving straight past the pub, which we had been reliably informed was called THE STAMFORD ARMS. Unfortunately, what nobody had realised was that following a change of ownership over the past couple of weeks, it is now called 'HOME', and we missed it completely!!!
Still, we found our destination eventually, and what a turnout!!!! In all, there were 14 vehicles, including this little beauty!!!
The weather stayed bright and clear for us, and we spent an enjoyable afternoon of gossip and mutual car apreciation.
Once hunger had got the better of us, we retreated inside, where some crafty sweet talking by Alex secured us a little private area for lunch!! Big thanks to the lovely folks at 'HOME' who treated us brilliantly - couldn't fault the food - definitely one to go back to!
I was lucky enough to share my table with my new best friend, Steve's (Beavis) GORGEOUS daughter, Charlotte
Also, in honour of birthday boys Bruceybonus and Karl (SXi 2.0t) we had t have birthday cake, whch the staff kindly brought out for us decked in candles, and even started off the obligatory out of tune rendition of 'Happy Birthday to you'!
I must also add this pic - are these the Three Wise Men?
All in all a fantastic turn out and a great day - it was lovely to see both older members and the newer guys as well, a great friendly atmosphere which is just what the club is all about! Huge thanks to you all for making the trip to meet up - especially Elite1 (Ian) who raised himself from his sick bed to join us for a short while - it was lovely to see you all
