Default My vectra gave me a fright today.

Was out shopping today and drove less than a quarter mile from the supermarket car park to where i fill up with diesel. There was a bit of a queue so i stopped the engine while the car in front filled up (about 3 to 4 minutes)....when the car in front drove off i started the engine & it stopped itself almost straight away. I noticed the spanner light was flashing & when i went to restart it nothing happened, but after about 30 seconds it started up ok. Stopped it at the pump to fill up & it started no problem & no problems on the journey home ( about 10 miles).

This is an immobiliser fault, as stated in the handbook.....but i put it on diagnostics when i got home & no fault codes were present. (apart from "B3700 - Wiper Interval Circuit Malfunction
(0F) - Not present.", but it always shows this fault even though the wipers work ok wether on all the time or intermittent wipe).

    Anyone else had this happen?

My old Astra H 1.3 CDTi used to do this, as above take key out and put it back in and all should be fine.

My old Veccy B used to do this all the time - had it for nearly 9 years. When it was originally under waranty, put it in to the stealer and they changed the crankshaft sensor.

Once out of waranty and having the same problem, just ignored and as others have said, found that taking key out (and sometimes having to lock/unlock) sorted it out until the next time.

Previously had a company Astra diesel that did the same thing.

Current Veccy C (1.8 SRI VVT) seems to be okay.

Well, its exactly a year since this happened (give or take) & the problem has not occurred again. I just put it down to maybe a key transponder intermittent fault?

Since it happened i always carry the spare key just in case.
