    Default Rear brake Rattle question??

Hi all, over the last 2 weeks ive had a tinny rattle sound when going over bumpy roads (blockpaving/potholes etc). I took it to an indy who said he couldnt pin point it but defo could hear it on a test drive.
Its been getting worse (louder/more common) over the last week so today I took it back in and they think its the cat thats broken up, but no rattle when shaking exhaust lol??
So I looked on here and the problem of rear pads not sitting in caliper properly keeps coming up, So my question is whats the best way to find out its the pads. The rattle seems to stop when brakes applied or handbrake on a few clicks, plus ive noticed the handbrake rides higher recently.
Ive checked pads/discs and so has an indy and they are about 40/50% worn (pads).

    Cheers peeps.

EDIT: sorry just noticed wrong section wooopsseee (tired lol)

I would say whip the nearside rear wheel off and have a look at the inner pad

I had this rattle too, and it was the rear pads. I just used a small piece of copper, formed round the ends of the pads, as a shim and this solved the problem.

Are you sure that they are in the right way round, mine have a little notch so they should only go one way but the C**k at Vauxhall put them in the wrong way round, hence the rattle on mine. Took them out changed them round and hey presto the rattle went.
