Hi guys on my new C I've got a problem with the key. The keyfob buttons are worn right through, down to the metal contacts underneath.
Where's the best place to get a new key? Can I get just the shell with buttons and swap my innards over?
Thanks

Just rebuild repair refurb, simples there are some how2's I think on it somewhere
Yes, I just bought a new set of outer covers for the key - worked brilliantly. Before unlocking was really hit and miss, it took five or six presses to get the thing to work. I thought I needed a new key because the internal microswitch was knackered. But I got one of these refurb kits off eBay (seller was carkeysandremotes), fitted it and the key now works good as new.
So it's definitely worth spending a tenner on a refurb kit before you start thinking about spending a fortune on a new key from the stealers.

Same thing happened to me the other week with my Signum (aggresive girlfriend used the car and pushed the unlock button right through!), it was a nightmare as the car unlocked itself and put it's windows down everytime I went near it! Bought a shell from ebay and it cost about £6 inc postage and then found a video on youtube of how to take the key to pieces which was really helpful, key is now like new! Deffo much cheaper than full replacement from dealer
Thanks guys it looks easy enough to do, the case splits in half and the battery/chipset comes out as one piece. So no messing around with anything fiddly!
i've done both got a new cover n battery off ebay for my existing ket, was only 10 quid iirc, but i also stumped up 60 quid for a new key from vauxhall, i only had the one key so my old one is now a spare, and i have a nice shiny new flip key with the extra pose factor
yep plus the dreaded vat of course
Wow thats cheap, I got quoted £145...
