Smile Cambelt and water pump changed today

Well after buying the cambelt kit, aux belt and water pump last week they have been fitted today by local garage. He said that both the pump and the belt were not really in that bad condition (car's done 70k) but I've got peace of mind now it's done. £260 all in. I'm happy with that

Might visually look acceptable, but when compared to a new item the used cambelt is usually easy to recognise and can be longer
The waterpump is a different matter as the main bearing tends to just fail suddenly

Do the next cambelt kit at around 40K miles, and at 80K miles repeat the process with all three

The main thing you are looking for on a removed cambelt is oil and/or broken, damaged, missing teeth
    I've only had it once

Looking to keep the vec another year or so. Will be changing it next summer probably but couldn't take the risk of not getting it done especially since we drive to France on our hols.

I think it's a no brainer changing the water pump aswell. Mine was done at 65K and the pump was close to failing. Well worth it for peace of mind.
