Default Michelin Primacy HP - tyre wear

Anyone has this on their Vec/Sig?

How do they cope with motorway miles? How long do they last? Can I expect at least 50k from a set? They're not the cheapest tyres but I heard they last and last and last...

I tested a set early on, they lasted about 15% longer than the Good Year F1 GSD3

My last set of Michelin pilot primacy on the rears lasted 46k.

Now replaced with Michelin Primacy HP and covered 15k so far and not showing any signs of wear.

They are a very hard wearing compound and do last a long while, some people say they are not to good in the wet. Ive never had a problem with them. ( Depends how you drive in the wet i suppose).

You can get them fitted for about £110 mark if you shop around.

I rate them very highly and also use Michelins on the wifes corsa.

If you do mainly motorway driving you should see 45k- 50k from the rears. Maybe 30k from the fronts.

I've been using Primacy HP's on my Vec since the frankly awful Good Year NCT5's that were put on it from the factory got a bit low, I couldnt wait to get rid of those and did a fair bit of reading around before trying the Primacy HP's and love them. I've gone through several sets now and used them on my Saloon as well when I had that.

They grip like glue and last well, although I'm not the right person to ask about mileage because I do drive hard and tyres tend not to last that long with me so I probably get a lot less miles from tyres than most people would expect and don't actually pay any attention to how long tyres last even though I probably should lol

    What size was that?
The cheapest I could find (as at first week of February) in 225/45R17 XL was £135, compared to the Good Year F1 at £110, the saving of £25 wipes out the extra mileage
However the Michelin Primacy HP 95W XL is currently coming in at £120

Given the Good Year F1 Assymetric has been replaced I am seriously considering switching back to Michelin
Looking back I have never had so many different tyres from one manufacturer on one car!
    Good Year NCT5, GSD3, Assymetric

They are the MOST expensive tyre for the standard SRI alloy at 215/50/17. Had them on my old Vec 2.2 direct, last a long time but when compared with the extra you pay (30 to 40% more than Uniroyal) I just cant see the need.
NCT5 I have found ok but seems a bad choice with most on here with the Rainsport 2 getting raving reports at a good price.

I do mainly motorway miles with a heavy foot. The Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics lasted me 21k...after that they were unbearable...I'm now on winter tyres still...

    4 225/45 R17 94W Michelin Primacy HP would cost me 126€ each.

Another option would be Pirelli's Cinturato P7, which apparently lasts a fair bit too...

    Decisions decisions...

Finally got rid of the Michelin HPs I had on the rear. They did last well (the rears lasted 57K miles, the fronts lasted just short of 23K miles) - this is mostly motorway miles.

I wouldn't have them again though. Were never able to get or keep the ones on the front balanced properly no matter who tried, and the rear's droned very loudly once part worn.

I had P7's on the front for a while a couple of years ago, they only lasted 11K.

    These are all 215/50 R 17 W on a 3.2 Auto hatch.

I've gone for Avon ZV3 this time all round, XL for the first time.

Just had a quick scan 225/45/17 94w Primacy hp at Kwik fit fitted £119.30 each. Must have gone up slightly in a year.

That may be due to the rear camber on the Vectra C, which you cannot avoid
Solution is to swap the tyres rear to front as they wear
Also ensure your car has had a full four wheel alignment check, especially after any suspension component replacements

I had one set of GSD3 on the rear for three times longer than normal
They went on the front with 4mm for 500 miles, sent to Good Year for report

Following that report I had another full four wheel alignment done (by a different outlet) and indeed the rear camber was completely incorrect
The previous outlet had used the generic settings for a Vectra C, and not those specific to my vehicle : V6 diesel sports suspension

My current set of Assymetric has been on the rear slightly longer than normal with just 3mm of tread left on them when swapped to the front, but no noise this time
