    Smile Fancy a Vectra C

    Hey Guys,

Iím a current Vauxhall Owner (Astra mk4, 1.6) and Iíve had my eye on a couple of astra mk5... SRI 150ís
It wasnít until the other day that I saw a
veccy C with an irmscher chrome grill, nice alloys and a small rear spoiler that I thought to myself ďthese cars can look quite nice with a bit of tasteful moddingĒ

So Iíve spent the past couple of days looking at Vectras and now I really fancy one.
I thought it would be a good idea to join this forum as I may soon be a regular member, and Iíd like to get some opinions before I do buy a Vectra.

I think I would still go for a 1.9 (150) model, with the exterior pack, although Iíve not looked to deeply into what each different pack offers, or which is the best one to go for.
Looking at Vectras, I much prefer the looks of the facelift (2004-2008 model), although a few people mention that the cabins are different? (being worse on the facelift) Are there any other major differences? I prefer the physical look of the facelift models, in particular the lights but other than that I canít see any major differences.

Is there anything in particular that I should be looking/checking for when shopping around for these cars?
I want to make sure I get a good deal, and Iím looking to spend about £6,000, hopefully that should get me something nice with low mileage as Iíve noticed a lot of these cars are ex-company cars and have covered very high mileage.

    Thanks for reading,
    Dean

Facelift models were stripped of kit, my 02 LS has rainsensor wipers, folding passenger seat, rear cupholders, rear vents in the centre console, 8 way adjustable front seats, traction control, remote boot opening, auto-dimming rearview mirror, cigarette lighter, cubby under headlight switch and rear armrest with storage. Most of that was optional or not available on all facelift Vectra's.
BTW love the kit on my car, its jam packed lol.
Try and get a Design or Elite as you will get decent kit levels, if you want the toys, SRi is the Sporty brother, but lacks in gadgets though.
Facelift models had the front tweaked visually and mechanically to provide a better drive to try to get to the Mondeo's standards.

Go for an SRi NAV XP, and look for one thats had the option / extras included, Just sold my SRi Nav XP Estate, I'd ordered it with every extra except for a sunroof, so there are some out there that are fully loaded, just be picky and you'll find a nice one.. Good luck!

    I do have a question...

What routine maintenance must be carried out as an advisory on these cars?
For example, ony my astra the cambelt needs to be changed every 40,000 and the waterpump wants to be changed every 80,000 etc.

    Things like that?

I'm no diesel expert but that doesn't sound right to me. Things to look out for with the Vec is broken springs (they have a bad habbit of letting go even on newer cars) diesels in particular have a rather long list of problems which can be dual mass flywheel/clutch, inlet manifold, egr valve, swirl valves all of which are pretty expensive to repair and are more a case of when they go - not if.
