    Default Fuel saver idiots

    OK time for another rant.

I did a return drive to York from East Ayrshire on Monday it was dark/dawn and dusk on return.

The number of idiots on the M74 with only side lights on or as light emerged no lights sitting at around 50mph was staggering and incredibly scary!

I saw one artic obviously not see a Nissan Almera and have to swerve badly to avoid the dark blue invisible rolling roadblock!
both ways I must have passed about 25>30 cars in 500+ miles

This is not funny folks these idiots need stopping before they cause a massive pile up.

I had set cruise at a GPS 72mph up to 75mph tops and was not the fastest car out there but I tell you there were not nearly as many road sprinters as there used to be

It doesn't suprise 1 bit matey... the amount of folk on the road generally who don't use any common sense is shockingly high.

I guess this is the reason for the post 09 motors to have dlr's as standard

Yes, people dawdling along at 50mph (or even less) on the NSL Dual Carriageways and Motorways is becoming a serious issue now

In the past the police would either stop or present a visual warning to such drivers (Speed Up / Observe Speed Limit)
However with patrols cut to the minimum required now and speed enforced by remote methods this has little or no effect now

Then you get the extremes, where people always drive at the same speed
Car in front does 50mph in a 30mph
Car still doing 50mph on a 70mph Motorway, as a result now caught up with it

Turning your lights on costs nothing!! For the sake of being seen by other road users, just do it!

I nearly rear-ended someone a couple of weeks ago. I was doing about 65 up the A1M, it was about midnight, and very foggy, and this idiot was doing about 40. When I swerved to pass him, he only had sidelights on! No fogs (front or rear), and not even dip lights.

    Rant over

See it all the time. Some people drive too slowly because they can. Just yesterday a Toyota Yaris Verso 'wrinklymobile' doing 20 in a 30 limit, and then 30 in a 50 limit. I was fortunately able to safely overtake it, but I could see in my rear view mirror the growing tailback his selfishness was causing.

The irony is that some people's extreme obsession with fuel economy is actually achieving the opposite of what they expect.

as said police should stop these people as its just as dangerous if not more than someone doing 5mph over the limit, my mate failed his driving test for doing 24 in a 30 so how these people get away with it is beyond me, there should be a minimum and maximum lower for trucks and vans as is the case with the max now etc

DRL's only work on the front though mate, nothing shows up on the rear. I have started driving with my headlights on all the time now.
It amazes me the amount of people that show no common sense sometimes. Just last week I was past, at night, by a guy driving down the M8 with Sidelights and Front foglights on, no doubt he thought he was being "cool", forgetting that the foglight beam does not extend forward but from side to side. How he could see anything is beyond me.

Yep. It's illegal to drive too slowly in the USA.
